How long have you worked at VCH?
5 years
Tell us what you do at VCH in one or two sentences:
I work regionally doing community based rehabilitation for clients with complex needs following brain injury. I am involved in assessing and providing customized intervention to optimize client function within their performance capacity; taking into consideration their environment and preferred activities.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
Getting to be involved in identifying clients’ strengths and facilitating function through interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts. I really value educating and supporting the clients extending past the individual (families, employers, specialists, venders, students). Almost as importantly, I am a huge fan of scone Friday at the GF Strong cafeteria.
How does your work contribute to the VCH True North goals?
I find the diversity and magnitude of programming offered through government, non-profit, private organizations in the community very impressive. I strive to ensure continuity of care between teams, avoid duplication of services, and increase awareness of suitable resources in order to assist clients in meeting their goals. I feel that this works towards promoting better health for our communities.
One thing we might be surprised to learn about you:
I am a good shot. Clay pigeons, consider yourselves warned.
Three things you always have in your fridge:
Kombucha, hummus, Sriracha.
Who or what inspires you?
Personally – My Baba, Mrs. Bertha Feldman
Professionally – Karen Barclay and Susan Forwell
Personally and professionally – Dr. Steve Brule
Most healthy habit:
Spending exorbitant amounts on spin classes, and patting myself on the back Friday after work.
Favourite vacation spot:
Naxos, Tel-Aviv, Sarajevo…and Pine lake, Alberta.
