Jodi Nagy
Job Title
WTK Time Admin Clerk
Department/Location
Regional Timekeeping – Pay Inquiries
How long have you worked at VCH?
7.5years.
Tell us what you do at VCH in one or two sentences:
I work in the pay inquiry department which means if there is an issue with an employee’s paystub my role is a hybrid of customer service/systems analyst investigator/problem solver and good news giver. In a nutshell – try to prevent errors from happening but if they do, figure it out and fix paystub errors and provide a resolution.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
The amazing people I work with. Truly supportive team that pulls together for tough cases and when workload gets overwhelming. The people here make even the boring math aspect super fun.
How does your work contribute to the VCH True North goals?
Develop the best workforce by providing expertise on collective agreement rules and policies through educating staff and managers on how to minimize future data entry errors. We keep the team motivated through social committee activites like best costume contests, charity drives and multi-cultural potlucks.
Provide the best care by being customer service orientated in acknowleding and problem solving each employee concern in a prompt, friendly manner.
Innovate for sustainability by continual learning and adopting new systems and policies as they are implemented.
Promote better health for our communities by running audits to catch errors before they end up on an employees paystub so that healthcare providers can focus their energy on patients instead of worrying about potential mistakes on their paystubs.
One thing we might be surprised to learn about you:
I can eat an entire large pizza all to myself.
Three things you always have in your fridge:
Orange juice. nail polish (doesn’t expire as fast if you chill the bottles) and bbq sauce.
Who or what inspires you?
The Christmas card I received from a homeless guy once thanking me for always smiling and saying hello to him. I framed it and when I look at it, it reminds me how having a postivite attitude and treating people with respect has such a significant impact on those you interact with.
Most healthy habit:
Swapping out the dougnut tray at work for platters of assorted cut up veggies and going for a walk with co-workers every lunch hour, rain or shine.
Favourite vacation spot:
Italy – visiting a place where the local culture encourages eating and socializing for hours over an amazing meal with the people you love most in the world.
