Trees of Life grow $16,000 donation

Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life Donation

Owners from Richmond’s Shoppers Drug Mart locations wrap up their 2012 “Tree of Life” campaign with a donation to women’s health programs at Richmond Hospital.

A donation of over $16,000 will benefit women’s health programs at Richmond Hospital thanks to proceeds raised during the 2012 Shoppers Drug Mart “Tree of Life” campaign.

This is the fifth consecutive year that all six Shoppers Drug Mart Richmond locations have worked together to improve women’s health at Richmond Hospital through their Tree of Life campaign. We’re grateful for Shoppers Drug Mart’s leadership because it’s through wonderful local partnerships like these that our Foundation can provide even greater resources for our community’s health services.

The Shoppers Drug Mart Tree of Life campaign is a four-week program held annually across Canada between September and October. National in scope, yet locally-based, the Tree of Life campaign offers Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to organizations that make a difference in their own communities. All six Richmond Shoppers Drug Mart stores have selected Richmond Hospital Foundation as their charity of choice for the past five years.

Owners of the Richmond Shoppers Drug Mart locations were on-site at Richmond Hospital earlier this week to receive a tour of the facility’s state-of-the-art Birth Centre in follow-up to their Tree of Life donation.

“Every year it warms our hearts to see our community come together as we watch our symbolic trees grow in-store with each donation made by our employees and customers,” said Alex Dar Santos, pharmacist-owner of Shoppers Drug Mart on Cambie Road. “Touring the hospital to see how our donations are making a difference for women’s health shows us all how tangible the Tree of Life campaign really is for patients.”

Since 2008, the Shoppers Drug Mart® Tree of Life campaign in Richmond has raised more than $70,000 to improve women’s health in our community.
