Ready for your next challenge? Specialty training opportunities posted Nov. 30-Dec. 3!

If you have 2 years of recent acute or medical/surgical experience, you may be eligible to apply for training to work in a specialty unit such as ICU, post-anaesthetic recovery, and more.

Training opportunities in critical care, emergency, high acuity, neonatal, and perinatal units are being posted on Thursday, November 30 for VCH sites including Vancouver General Hospital, Lion’s Gate Hospital, Richmond Hospital, and UBC. The postings will be up until 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 3.

Specific training dates will be listed on the unit-specific posting. For most programs, it begins in spring 2018 and ends in November or December 2018. Some programs will continue over the summer, and some will have the summer off. All programs are delivered through BCIT.

How to apply

  1. Make sure your resume is up to date. Check out VCH Recruitment’s Career Toolbox for tips.
  2. On the posting day, check the internal job postings page, where unit-specific opportunities will be posted: http://staffpostings.vch.ca/. Search with the keywords “training opportunity.”
  3. Complete an internal job application, and be sure to attach your updated resume. Submit your completed application prior to the closing date listed.

Not sure which area is right for you?

Do your research!  Watch videos that appeared in VCH News during nursing week a couple of years ago. Review the BCIT website to get more information about the program areas and learning objectives. Ask your colleagues who may have worked in other departments. Regardless of the specialty, the training is a major commitment, and we want you to be sure you’re heading in the right direction.
