Recognition survey update and winners announced!

The recent My VCH survey showed that 66% of you feel that you don’t get enough thanks and recognition for the outstanding work you do. It’s time to change that. We want to improve how we recognize and reward you for the outstanding work you do. The first step was to ask you what meaningful recognition looks like for you and many of you took time to share what’s important to you.

Your input is vital

A big thank you to the 1,700 employees and physicians who completed the recognition survey! Every time you share your voice through the various surveys and focus group sessions, YOU are helping create a better VCH. Your input is so valuable and will be used to help shape future recognition programs.

What’s next?

Recognition means something different to each of us. As key partners in helping us create a more meaningful program, we want to keep you informed on our progress. We are currently analyzing your feedback alongside research and best practices and will provide a full summary of the findings by the end of April. Our next step will be to involve staff and physicians in the creation of new recognition programs.

  • If you’re interested in participating in future focus groups in mid-May or June, please email us at culture@vch.ca with your contact details (name, role, unit/department, location, and CoC) and you will be added to the pre-registration list.

People First Awards: Call for nominations is open!

For the past three years our People First Awards program has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, which is why we thought it was important to open the call for nominations even in the midst of an overall review. The program exists to shine a light on those who truly go above and beyond, exemplifying a workplace culture that is caring, encourages learning and innovative thinking, and delivers the results our patients, clients and residents deserve.

Think about who inspires you, and nominate them by Friday, April 13th in one of the following categories:

  • Excellence in Person-Centred Care
  • Excellence in Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Excellence Everyday – The Unsung Hero (Clinical & Non-Clinical)
  • Excellence in Innovation
  • Excellence in Leadership
  • Excellence in Volunteering

For more information, see last week’s article in VCH News or email PeopleFirstAwards@vch.ca.

Congratulations!

Join us in congratulating the two lucky winners of the Fitbit Flex 2 and $25 iTunes Gift Card, Lindsay Danchella, Patient Care Coordinator, Medicine Telemetry, Richmond Hospital (pictured above with her new Fitbit) and Kathy Triolet, Community Health Nurse, Pacific Spirit. Their names were randomly drawn after they completed the recognition survey!

Thanks again to everyone who completed the survey and for your ongoing participation in shaping the future of VCH. Your voice matters. Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved in creating a more meaningful program together.
