Congratulations to Zahida Esmail on the recent publication of her report Sweden – A Star Performer in the Eyes of an Emerging Health Leader: Lessons in Quality and Patient Safety. Zahida is also the recipient of the 2012 Emerging Health Leader Scholarship, sponsored by ARAMARK Healthcare.

A recently published report authored by Zahida Esmail, regional practice initiatives lead with VCH, sheds light on what the Canadian health system may be able to apply from the Swedish experience.

Dr. Andrei Krassioukov has been elected as a Fellow to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) in honour of his extensive contributions to spinal cord research.

For over 20 years, Dr. Krassioukov’s research has been devoted to helping people with spinal cord injury (SCI) maintain their cardiovascular health. At the beginning of his career, studying the effect of SCI on the cardiovascular system was not seen as an important area of research by many, with most of the focus being placed on curing paralysis…
