Karin Olson officially re-opens Mehri’s Place at Lions Gate Hospital

A small gathering of staff at Lions Gate Hospital joined Karin Olson, Chief Operating Officer, for Coastal to pay tribute to Mehri Parsi and officially re-open Mehri’s Place with a ribbon cutting today (April 12).

The renovated cafe is the most recently completed section of the ongoing LGH Atrium Renewal Project, which has been funded by the LGH Foundation.

Mehri has been a part of LGH since 1978 when Karin started her first job in the kitchen at the hospital, with Mehri as her boss. The cafe was named after Mehri in 1996. Even in semi-retirement, Mehri plays a huge role at the hospital regularly volunteering for events on and off site for the foundation. You can find Mehri behind the cafe counter most Fridays from 7 am to 11 am.

“You could be having a bad day but when Mehri greets you with ‘How are you today, sweetheart?’ you can’t help but feel better,” says Karin.
