Congrats to Eduardo, Cane, Helen, Christine and Lone!

Congrats to Eduardo, Cane, Helen, Christine and Lone!

They’re Best Work Buddies (BWBs) and they’re this week’s BWB Contest winners. Each group of winners has won a $10 coffee card and, along with everyone else who’s submitted a photo so far, they’ll be entered in the draw for the Grand Prize — a 1-hour private photo shoot with a professional photographer.

Vancouver’s BWB Contest is for everyone who calls one (or more) coworkers a best work friend. All Vancouver Community of Care physicians, staff and LMC colleagues working in partnership with us are welcome to participate — and the more you participate, the more chances you have to win.

Please note that September 16 is the last day we’re accepting entries.

For full contest details, refer to VCH News here.

For all photos submitted to date, visit our Vancouver Best Work Buddies Flickr site. (Tip: For best viewing, use the Google Chrome browser.)

Where do you work?

VGH’s Orthopaedic Trauma Ward

How did you meet?

Eduardo: “Cane and I met as part of the nursing staff of Family Practice Unit back in 1997. After Family Practice became ACE, we got reunited again at Ortho Recon and have been working together since then, even choosing the same line rotations when T14E amalgamated with T7. Once a month, we and 8 other co-workers go out for dim sum lunch during our days off.”

What do you admire most about each other?

“Dedication and professionalism grounded in a lively sense of humour and mutually shared foodie interests.”

Where do you work?

VGH, T11 Acute Care for Elders

How did you meet?

Christine: “I met Helen and Lone when I started on the ACE unit in 2011.”

What do you admire most about each other?

Christine: “I am thankful for Helen’s excellent physio skills, strong work ethic, and thoughtful perspective which enable me to trust her judgement with patients. We also share a similar sarcastic humour and can relate to our kids being young. Yes, our banter may seem like we’re an old married couple at times.

I job share with Lone so we don’t usually see each other, but I am thankful for our effective communication, her caring manner with our patients, and her experience as an OT that greatly helps our patients. We’re excellent job share partners.

What do they admire about me? Gosh who knows? I like to think it might be my singing and dancing at work.”
