Meet Richard Buck

How long have you worked at VCH?

Since November, 2009.

Your VCH contribution. Tell us what you do at VCH in one sentence.
I try to inject a little reality into the head-space of patients who are out of touch with it.

One thing that we might be surprised to find out about you:
You should see my scar from the rattlesnake bite.

Favorite hobby:
Ranting about politics, economics and religion.

Three things you always have in your fridge:
Condiments. Four or five kinds of mustard, three kinds of olives, anchovy paste, capers, horseradish — any flavour you can imagine.

What makes you happy?
Finally finishing off one of those condiments so I can throw out the container and have more room in the fridge!

Most healthy habit:
“Running” three or four kilometres on the elliptical machine at the hospital gym while listening to Scandinavian punk rock on my iPod.

Favourite vacation spot or place you’ve visited:
Ningaloo (Australia’s lesser-known barrier reef, in the Indian Ocean) off Coral Bay, and West Australia, way out at the far edge of the Earth.

Do you know someone at VCH who you’d like to see profiled in VCH News? Send your suggestion to news@vch.ca and we’ll follow up with them. Don’t worry, we won’t tell them you suggested them. It’ll just be our little secret.
