Cathy Bryant

Job Title
Occupational Therapist, Mary Pack Arthritis Program

Department/Location
Cranbrook Arthritis Service, located within the East Kootenay Regional Hospital

How long have you worked at VCH?
10 years with the Arthritis Program under VCH.

Tell us what you do at VCH in one or two sentences:
I provide O.T. interventions to patients referred for problems related to their arthritis diagnosis. Having advanced knowledge of arthritis care and working in a smaller program allows our service to be very client-centered and responsive to some of the specific needs of patients living with chronic conditions.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
Choosing a single favorite memory would be difficult. Highlights for me have been the opportunities to work with several rheumatologists through outreach consultation services; and to attend continuing education conferences and workshops with my long distance colleagues!

Which True North goal does your work contribute to the most?
To provide the best care.

One thing we might be surprised to learn about you:
I won a silver medal in the Women’s Pentathlon in the 2005 World Masters Games.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by colleagues, friends, and patients who volunteer countless hours and energy supporting organizations and youth programs in our community.

Most healthy habit:
I am rarely short on sleep. Sleep is a priority for me, and I treasure my daily 8 hours.

Favourite vacation spot:
My favorite vacation memories are more significant to me that any particular location. Favorite times are those camping with four kids, my partner and myself, travelling with one tiny vintage tent trailer, on route to Drumheller, or Saskatoon, or Kootenay Lake, or to a local lakeside campsite.
