People First award winner: Jill Scott
We’re thrilled to profile Jill Scott. Jill won the Award of Merit in the Patient-Centred Care category in this year’s People First Awards.
Here’s what her colleagues say about her:
Jill treats patients and colleagues with respect, and advocates for patient safety. Her expertise is appreciated by colleagues, patients and families—she can make the most nervous patient comfortable with self-injecting a blood thinner.
Jill is truly a role model for all health care providers in her dedication to quality patient care. This dedication is matched by her genuine warmth, empathy and sense of humour. We feel honoured and fortunate to work beside Jill.
Congrats, Jill for the amazing work you do every day, and for being an inspiration to your colleagues!

We triage referrals to the Thrombosis Clinic; provide anticoagulation counseling to patients and their family members; teach self-injection techniques; help patients to manage warfarin dosing and the use of a point-of-care device; offer post-operative follow-up; and provide telephone advice about commonly asked questions regarding anticoagulant therapy.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
I have so many good memories, that it would be difficult to pick just one. The “Who” would be those who help others, and the “what” would be art, music and a lovely garden.
Most healthy habit:
I attend fitness classes on a regular basis.
