Two touching stories from hospital patients – and patrons – remind us that the greatest gift of all is the gift of good health.

Friday, December 13th was a lucky day for Kristy: she won $425.

The thermometer dipped below zero last Thursday but Auxilians, staff, physicians and contractors stayed warm inside at the Auxiliary Christmas Tea, mingling with friends and colleagues, and thanking the Auxiliary for their generous contributions.

During their recent debrief session, our guests from Accreditation Canada outlined numerous strengths of our organization and a few areas of opportunity. They also announced that we had met 98.2% of the criteria being measured and an incredible 99.4% in high priority areas. To learn more, read Mike’s blog post.

The total amount being donated to various programs is $163,050, plus a promissory note of $200,000 for items on the “wish list”.

Congratulations to the six staff members who each won $100 in this year’s draw.

The Staff Payroll Payoff is a 50/50 lottery managed by the Richmond Hospital Foundation and is open to all regular full and part-time VCH employees who work in Richmond.

Our guests from Accreditation Canada completed their final tracers this morning and will provide us with an initial debrief tomorrow at 11 am highlighting key areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.

During two regular scheduled staff immunization clinics next week at Richmond Hospital, additional nurses will be available to provide influenza vaccinations for staff.
